Gallipoli is still the greatest anti-war film ever made. Just wish he'd made it in 1960 and that it had been required viewing in the Pentagon.
-Monday, December 08, 1997 at 21:56:04 (AST)
Fearless...
crying never felt so good..
a very personal, deep emotional film
would love the opportunity to talk with someone
who finds themselves ..wanting to just .. disappear..

I was wondering if you could be so kind as to help me...I am a big fan
of your films, DPS to be specific. My best friend and I relate quite well
to it. For her graduation, I wanted to get her the book "Five Centuries
of Verse" that was used in the film. However, I have looked high and low
for this book and not have been able to find it. I was wondering if you
could help me find this book...does it exist and where can I find it?
Your help would be greatly appricated...
Yours,
Natalee Wilkerson

If "Dead Poets Society" was the only film that ever existed on this
earth, I wouldn't mind. I wouldn't mind at all.
Peter Weir is a genius. I've seen DPS so many years ago on an old almost-rusty
beta machine but I still couldn't get
over it until now - the wisdom it shared and the magic it gave my thinking
life. You are the foundation upon which copycats
built their sand castles. Hear them crumbling, people. So thanks for
the memories. Carpe Diem, sir.

It was a pleasure looking at your Dead Poet's Society site
because it is my favorite movie of all time. Coincidently,
my second favorite is Glory and I am a big fan of
Braveheart. I found it interesting that someone else
also finds Dead Poet's Society and Glory as two of their
favorite movies. Anyways, enough of my rambling. I know that
the extended version of Dead Poet's Society is sold on Laser
Disc, but I don't have a Laser Disc player. I was wondering
if you know if the extended version with the extra scenes
can be found anywhere on VHS? Please e-mail me back. Thanks,
from a fellow Dead Poet's Society fan.

-Wednesday, September 24, 1997 at 23:35:53 (ADT)
I have always been greatly inspired by the movie "Dead Poet's Society."
I personally think that it is Pobin William's best performance. I have
always wished that we could have something like that set up in my town,
or at least have a teacher like that. I was very shocked and pleased
when I typed the title into the search engines and got a response,
and
now I am very pleased to be able to be typing in my thoughts on your
guestbook. So, now that I know where it is on the internet, I can just
click over whenever I feel like seeing some of my favorite scenes.
Thank-you for providing this page.

-Saturday, August 23, 1997 at 22:00:49 (ADT)
word I got on the Truman Show is that it will be a bit like
a Terry Gilliam film, think Brazil i.e. bizarre to the point
of comedy but at the same time a bit scary. For example, I
hear there will be an ohmpa band of little people seen against
a backdrop of "just because you're paranoid don't mean
they're not watching you."

Mosquito Coast is a very underrated film. Haven't seen a lot of the others listed, didn't care for "Green Card." Didn't Weir direct the first Robocop?

Its nice to be able to get information re Australian Directors - of
Peter Weir's stature.
I'm an architecture student with a love of acting on the sideline and
find his films so inspiring growing up.
I was born in Java Indonesia, so The Year of Living Dangerously has

it only courteous to sign the guestbook. It really is a good package
that you've written.

very good Home Page!!!!!

I very much like Weir's films. I think only Kubrick comes close in as far as the quality of weir's work. Anyone know how I can get any of those short films? P.S. Why is Picnic At Hanging Rock so damn hard to find in the U.S., it took me months?

My 1990 doctoral dissertation (University of Kansas),was entitled "Tantalizing Ambiguity: The Cinema of Peter Weir." I finished it just prior to "Green Card."

Me and a friend of mine, Nicola, wrote to Peter Weir in 1975, after
his "picnic at Hanging Rock".
Now that the tape of this film is available in Italy I'd like to set
up a Weir's film show in my city, together with the australian embassy.
This also as a way of meeting between italian and australian culture.
22 years ago the young director Peter Weir was so kind to two 14 years
old italian boy, anwering to their letter with a copy of Lindsay's novel.
Please talk to him about Marco and Nico; I think he will be so kind
this time too

Great Site: Mr Weir is the best. I was lucky enough to be an extra also at Seaside (Sea View). Should be very interesting. Oscar I hope

Criticism class. Your site has been most helpful. Thanks!

fine design and looking. Perfect place to Weir's world!

I was a fan of Peter Weir's movies before I knew he existed. I noticed
his name on the boxes of two of my favorite movies, Dead Poet's Society
and Fearless. I then typed his name in the video store computer and realized
that I had enjoyed all of his movies. He has a deft ability at choosing
great scripts and getting the most out of lead actors ( notably Bridges).
The soccer game in Poet's and the closing segment of Fearless are his
most brilliant scenes, in my opinion. An interesting shot in the Last Wave
involves water spilling down a staircase - for some reason it scared me.
By the way, this is one of the better sites I've visited.

Thank you for your diligence in keeping up with one of the world's greatest living film directors. Peter is not only a master of screen images, he is a story teller, the likes of which we havn't seen since the great John Huston. He is also a pleasure to work with.
-Saturday, March 08, 1997 at 23:12:45 (AST)
Thanks for the video info!
I've finally found "Picnic...", which I had always been
led to believe was out of print. Only $19.95, too...
By the way: was there ever a soundtrack recording (even vinyl!)
for "Picnic at Hanging Rock"? I'd love a tape of it....
Thanks again,
Chris Beyer

Have book called The Grasshopper Scandals.
Want Weir to do movie. Book thick with bizarre Australian/
Kentucky content --a religious/political thriller replete
with Kevin"Bloody" Wilson lyrics. Ripe for Peter's edgy
atmospherics.Have an agent lurking about,somewhere.
Yo Peter, put down that Vegemite jar and e-mail me quick
as a dingo at a pram.

I, too, have gotten work on The Truman Show here in the Florida
Panhandle. I, too, am a BIG fan of Peter Weir. When I first
met him, I was taken by his casual, friendly demeanor; nothing
fake or put on about the man. We discussed some of our fave
films. Nice guy.
I'm expecting The Truman Show to do well for Mr. Weir. At least,
I'm hopeful that it will be. And Peter, please keep on making the
films that you do. I appreciate the hell out of your work and
am proud to say that I've had the pleasure of working for you.
And thanks also for the opportunity to be in TruTalk, too!
and watching him work as well.

Currently working Truman Show as extra. Have really enjoyed
working with Peter and rest of cast and crew. Jim Radford
me about the page. Peter is about as relaxed and casual as
you can ask for and it has been nice to chat with him.

Your Synopsis of the Script Of "The Truman Show" is inaccurate. There
are a lot of campy, funny moments. The Bio also has some mistakes. We are
in the Library shooting with Jim, Noah and Laura right now. Best of Luck,
Peter and Company. Somewhere near Fort Walton at a college
-Friday, February 28, 1997 at 13:52:37 (AST)
I have been lucky to be an extra in Peter's latest film, The Truman Show. He has been an outstanding director. I think this is going to turn out to be an outstanding movie.
-Thursday, February 27, 1997 at 22:25:05 (AST)
I just finished filming "The Truman Show" with Peter. It also stars Jim Carrey, Laura Linney, and Dennis Hopper. Look for it this fall (tentative release November...). Peter was absolutely wonderful to work with, it's no wonder his films do so well. See ya!
-Thursday, February 27, 1997 at 09:47:33 (AST)
well, it seems as if you can find anything that you like
on the web these days. Even a Peter Weir page.
"Fearless" and "Witness", that's two superb movies
both ending with "'ess".
Bye.
