Dead Poets Society is one of the best movies I have ever seen. In a
society where most movies have trite, ambiguious, or assinine plots, this
movie does what Mr. Keating does, it breaks the barrier. Producers, actors,
and the like should all be envious of those envolved in the screen play
and acting of this movie. I first watched this movie in the early 1990's,
and didn't quite understand it because of my young age. I had forgotten
about it, until my Junior year of High School, when my AP English III teacher
(who constantly reminds me of the charector Robin Williams portrays, for
which I am truely faithful) showed DPS to our class before going into Realism
Literature. As I watched it, I fell in love with one of the best movies
of all time. For those who will never have a teacher like I have, who does
her best to 'strike out and find new ground,' as Mr. Keating says, I truely
feel sorry for you.

I've watched Witness in my school, in Film Studies 11 and it was very
good for the 80's, and was pretty suspensfull. Peter Wier is an excellent
director, usage of light, all the "director's hints" in the movie... it's
all good!

Also i was watching'the league of gentlemen' a comedy on BBC 2 and
one of the sketches was the ending scene from the film where they stand
on the desks and say 'oh captain my captain'.i was quite suprised at this
as i had never heard of this film until i atched it at school.I now know
that the film is more popular than i thought! Well done!!!!!!!!!!! guy

Hello I just watched your the movie DPS and i feel that it was a good
one to say the least. I came to this site looking for answers to quetions
such as "Who is to blame for Neil Perry's death?" athough i feel that Mr.Keating
was a powerful influence in Neil's l fe he was not to blame. As of now
Iam doin a report and i feel that Mr. Perry , Mrs. Perry and Neil himself
are to blame for his death. Without support, understanding and communication
Neil felt he had no other choice then to take his own life.

This movie is my favorite movie of all times. It provides everything
a quality movie should. Laughter and tears. love and happiness. it provides
a sense of closeness to the characters. and of course, it makes you feel
as though robin williams is teaching ou the divine secrets of poetry too.
i recommend this movie to anyone and everyone. it will forever be stacked
away on the dusty shelves of my tv movies. TIS ONLY IN THEIR DREAMS THAT

a refreshing deviation from all of that other crap. Thanks for making an

Dead Poet's Society is mirror of my all fellings. It really helped
me to understand how a little body like mine can be full of love and poetry.
The world needs action and we're aldeady action. We're humans, we're not
products, we're not stone, we're not b x. We're just like rivers that's
always bringing new water, clean water for everyboby. This river can not
stop , our feeling can not stop either. I'm brazilian and I'm just 15,

It is one of those stories that will bring out tears and laughter. It is
a story in Cuba and the characters are colorful, and it will certainly

I am an American English teacher in Japan. The pressure put upon schoolkids
here is similar to that in DPS--and sometimes kids seek suicide as the
only way to die with some remnant of honor in their lives. We are studying
this movie and its messages and parallels. So far, the students are responding
well, and are picking up much much more from it than mere entertainment
value and/or internationalisation. Thank you for making this film. Incidentally,
my mother recently confessed to letting me make MY o n day instead of trying
to live vicariously through me when the film was released-- (I was in college
at the time) and because of her change of heart, I was free to live my
own life, which ultimately brought me to Japan in the first place. There
has to b some poetic irony in that. Just wanted to drop a word of thanks
here, so thanks.

give your life a special meaning and full fill it. I think, before you
go out and express yourself to otheres, you have to go inside yourself,
because there you'll find the way you have to go. "Two roads diverged in

The first great film of the Australian new wave, Weir's 1975 mystery
appears at first to be a thin tale of schoolgirls disappearing at the turn
of the century when their repressive teachers take them on an outing to
a sacred aborigine site near Victoria. On another level — the level on
which all great movies happen — it's a richly suggestive experience that
renews the possibilities of cinema at the same time that it challenges
our perceptions of reality. Its use of a schoolgirl as visionary seems
tongue-i -cheek at first, but it gradually gains resonance. With its expressive
use of slow motion, precise compositions, gradual dissolves and lazy flute
music, the movie is a voluptuous poem of nature and youthful yearning,
as well as a teasing, mock-religious allegory, complete with suggestions
of virgin sacrif ce, sexual initiation, mystical deliverance from repression
and ascension into heaven. Weir was attracted to the open-ended nature
of the story "precisely because it didn't resolve itself . . . That's why
I made the film." This version of Picnic at Hanging Rock is a "director's
cut" that's actually seven minutes shorter than the original film, which
clocked in at 115 minutes. Weir, whose latest American movie is The Truman
Show, wanted to tighten the picture, and it hasn't een appreciably hurt
by the cuts. What's most noticeable is how gorgeous Russell Boyd's cinematography
now looks; did the movie look this wonderful when it was first shown? Look
on the German Page: http://members.tripod.de/picnic

Just wanted to say how much I like your page. I think Weir might be
the most exciting visual and ideological direction working. I recently
wrote an article for the local paper and put Fearless on the top 10 movies

fascinating movie and might have been stupid, pointless, and divertingly
strange under any director but Weir and any actor but Bridges. Great page!

I just can say I love the movie. I watched it for several times and
I'm trying to follow "Carpe Diem". I think this slogan is something everyone
has to interpretate and find out for his/herself. I'm still searching for
the deeper meaning and try to make my life extraodinary. And sometimes
it isn't as easy as some expect it to be. For me it's sometimes even hard
to continue, but I hope I'll succede and lead a full and lucky life!
