Poetic Answers #6
Here are your responses to the sixth question of what happened to the original
Dead
Poets Society and why it ceased to exist.
-
N. B. Turfrey: I would
say that it was simply a meeting of friends which meant that it never took
on new recruits. To this end it was bound to fail. The perpetuation of
it, would make it harder to keep quiet although the year group must have
known about it for it to appear in the annual.

Peter: The Dead Poets
Society still lives on, in suburban Northern Virginia, in the hearts of
eight beat poet-bodhisattvas who, though separated by many thousands of
miles, still meet to drink coffee by the lake and then, candles, books,
cigarettes and hearts in hand, make the way up the hill from the road into
the woods, talking of revolution and poetry.

Jason Harris: This question
can only be answered with a guess, there is no real evidence supporting
any point. One reason could be that all the members graduated and there
was no one to continue it. Another is that the administration found out
about it and wasn't happy with the students thinking for themselves. Maybe
a tragedy like Neil's death happened in their day too, and everyone was
too shook up to continue. Just think about it, the possibilities are endless.

Sylvia: It folded when Keating graduated.
-
Class of 99 Alberton , South Africa:
It is said in the movie that the administration did not like the DPS therefore
it was proberbly vetoed by the HODs. It was seen as a menace to Welton's
rigidity
-
Du Toit Albertus: They
just faded away, like most things boys do when they are young. Their lives
drifted away in different directions.
